Bread Machine Sourdough Discard Loaf

Make a delicious homemade sourdough discard loaf with ease using your bread machine. Simply add the ingredients, select your preferred setting, and enjoy fresh, tasty bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 -1/8 cups (260 grams) water
  • 4 cups (500 grams) flour
  • 1/3 cup (100 grams) sourdough discard
  • 3 tbsp. (40 grams) butter
  • 1 -1/2 tbsp. (20 grams) sugar
  • 2 -1/4 tsp. (7 grams) dried yeast
  • 1 -1/2 tsp. (10 grams) salt

Directions

  1. Add all your ingredients into the bread machine pan. Start with the liquid ingredients first, then add the dry ingredients on top.
  2. Depending on your bread machine, select a setting for your loaf. A wheat loaf setting with a dark crust often produces a very nice sourdough-style loaf. However, you can choose any setting that suits your preference.
  3. Start the bread machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions for your selected setting.
  4. Once the bread machine cycle is complete, carefully remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
