Fresh milled whole wheat biscuits

Enjoy warm, fresh milled whole wheat biscuits with this easy recipe. Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter, add milk, shape, and bake for golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ fresh milled whole wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Cut butter into flour mixture with a fork or pastry cutter. Add milk and stir.
  4. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead. Don’t over knead.
  5. Roll or pat dough into a ½ inch to ¾ inch thick round. Cut the dough with a cup or biscuit cutter and arrange on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 – 12 minutes or until nice and brown. Serve warm.
